10 Lines on “A Power Cut”

1. Last night we were having dinner in the kitchen when the lights suddenly went off.
2. It was very dark. We stumbled about. I fell over the dog and hurt my leg.
3. Mum had the torch. Dad used it to look for candles.
4. He tripped over a chair and banged his elbow.
5. He found candles on the top of a cupboard and lit them. There were no lights in any other houses in the street.
6. We knew there had been a power cut. We just had to wait for the power to come back on again.
7. It was just as well that we had finished dinner because we have an electric cooker.
8. I had not realized until then how much we depend on electricity.
9. I tried to read by candlelight but it was not easy. In the end, I gave up trying to do anything.
10. When I woke up in the morning the power was back on. I was so relieved.
