Sharing Is Caring
Our Diwali was different this year as we decided to share the festive joys with children from an orphanage. In the evening, we dressed up in new clothes and picked up our little friends. The delight on their faces was writ all over and their excitement, unfathomable.
13 Our house looked radiant with the lovely lights but the smile on their face was brighter. We performed the Pooja with all of us children singing hymns. Mummy then helped us light the diyas which we placed on the windows and terrace. It was now crackers time; the moment that children wait for. The rockets, sparklers, charkhas, and dummy snakes lit up their eyes. At 8 pm, mummy called us in for the feast. After dinner, she offered them sweets, toys, clothes, and books to take home. With the promise that we’d come back to help them with their studies, we dropped the children back.
I learned that day that it is never late to extend a helping hand and that it is important to learn to share.
