A Heart of Gold
My mother got sick one afternoon. She was sweating and feeling run down. I, a small boy of six years, got scared and telephoned my father. He rushed home, closely followed by an ambulance. My mother had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital.
In the emergency, my mother lay under the expert care of head nurse, Sister Kutty. Calmly and smilingly, she went about handling the emergency and seemed in complete control. When mummy stabilised, she emerged from the room, gave me a hug and wiped away my tears. She told me what a brave boy I had been in reacting correctly to the emergency. Even as mummy was shifted to the room the next day, Sister Kutty continued to visit mummy, held her hand and took loving care of her. When mummy was discharged from hospital, Sister Kutty gave me a bunch of flowers and told me to be the good boy that I was. I gave her a bug hug and told her how much I would miss her. For all the care and love she showered on us, I feel she truly has a heart ofgold.
