Bill Gates
William Gates III, better known as Bill Gates, is the founder and chief architect of Microsoft. Microsoft is the largest and most successful software company in the world. He has dominated the revolution in personal computers and is the catalyst that seeded the entire software industry. Bill is an icon of software and information technology and was named as Time Magazine’s 2005 “Person of the Year”.
In 2008, he stepped down from day-to-day duties at Microsoft, to devote his talents and riches to the philanthropic Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Now he faces even bigger challenges at the Foundation. Here, the mantra is that all lives on this planet are equal. The Foundation is dedicated to fighting hunger in developing countries, improving education in America’s high schools, and developing vaccines against malaria, tuberculosis and aids. He is regarded as a “creative capitalist”.
