Orville And Wilbur Wright
Wilbur and Orville Wright are credited with the first successful airplane flight. It was in Kitty Hawk, USA that their aircraft took to the air and stayed airborne for 12 seconds. A short flight, but what dieyaellic\f cd changed our world forever.
Before experimenting with flight, Wilbur and Orville sold bicycles. In 1892, they formed the Wright Cycle Company to sell, repair, and manufacture bicycles. Gradually, they grew interested in flying and started reading all the material they could find. They also watched birds and flew kites to observe flight first-hand. Each year from 1900 to 1902, they travelled to Kitty Hawk to test their gliders and the Flyer. With courage and perseverance, these self-taught engineers relied on teamwork and application of the scientific process to achieve flight. Their efforts are recognized through the Wright Brothers National Memorial which over half a million people visit each year to honour these men and their legacy.
