“Seven Sisters” Of India
We love our country but have failed to explore a part of our land. These are the seven sister states of India i.e. Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. Bordering China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Tibet, this land is unparalleled in beauty. However, due to ignorance and indifference, these states have remained virtually unknown, even too many countrymen.
The sobriquet, Seven Sisters was coined by a journalist, Jyoti Prasad Saikia. Travel across the Brahmaputra and explore a land which has not been pruned to look like a synthetic civilisation. It is a land of myths, deep jungles, gorges, slopes full of tea gardens, lush green meadows and populated with simple people. Swaying cane bridges over rushing white waters, stylised dance forms, weekend markets, blue lakes and blazing colours in the dresses; all of it enhances the charm of this unexplored land. Whether it is the Kaziranga sanctuary, or the Kamakhya temple; the rainiest place on earth i.e. Cherapunji or Manjuli the largest river island of the world, the region holds many beautiful secrets for the traveller. Come open your eyes to the east.
