English Essay on “Positive Thinking” Best Essay, Paragraph, Speech for Class 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 Students.

Positive Thinking

Why is modern man bad-tempered and irritable? Why does he look distressed and tense? Why does he need to attend Yoga classes? Why are crime and cases of heart ailments increasing? The questions are various but the answer is only one the cutthroat competition in all fronts of life, the feeling in every man to overtake the other. In such a situation man loses his balance of mind and becomes either a cynic or a pessimist or if not this, he becomes a victim of depression. The reason is that man is unable to keep a positive mental attitude. He tries to acquire this by going to attend meditation sessions, by doing Baba Ramdev’s ‘anulom vilom’ and other pranayamas.

Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind such thoughts, words, and images as are conducive to growth, expansion, and success. It is an attitude that expects positive and favourable results. In this way, a positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and the successful result of every action and situation

A strange fact is that although people talk a lot about positive thinking yet a great number of people do not believe in it. Many consider the subject as just nonsense and many scoff at the people who believe in it. Many people who believe in it do not know how to apply it to their lives and get results. Actually, people road, talk and hear about it a lot but in reality, they fail to understand its true importance.

In our day-to-day life, we often hear people say “Think Positive’ and ‘Be Positive’. But they fail to understand its importance because they do not know how to apply this formula to their lives. All of us influence the people we meet in our lives in one way or the other. This happens instinctively on a subconscious level through the verbal conversation we have and through the non-verbal conversation, that is, body language. People sense our aura and are affected by our thoughts and vice versa. For example, if our friends greet us in the morning in an unpleasant manner, we are bound to have an angry temperament and if they are in a jolly mood, our day is also full of liveliness. People are more disposed to us if we are positive and avoid anyone who broadcasts negativity. When the mind is negative, toxins are released into the blood which causes more unhappiness and negativity. This is a way to failure, frustration, and disappointment. Thus, both positive and negative thinking are contagious.

Positive thinking can be one of the most powerful weapons one can have. We are living in a brutally competitive world where a minor slip can result into a voyage into an abyss. People often fall victim to outbursts, anger, fear and dislikes. All these elements are just the manifestations of our negative thoughts. The problem with negativity is that the more you express it, the more you attract it. That is where the power of positive thinking comes into the picture.

You can affect the outcome of your actions if you think in a positive way. Whatever we do begins with a thought. We are always thinking something or the other. So why should we not try to incorporate this inevitable thought in our lives in a positive way? Positive thinking is a virtue and a necessity in today’s world. The single attribute of positive thinking can help in making a difference to our lives. It gives a positive attitude towards a task which in turn changes the outcome. Health experts and psychologists also emphasize the virtue of positive thinking in life.

It is important to identify negative thoughts. As soon as they appear in the mind, we should bury them. The challenge is to act logically instead of emotionally in dealing with them. One should hang out with people who have a positive disposition towards life. One can listen to soothing music and follow one’s hobby or favorite pastime.

We must live in the present. Most of our fears and insecurities arise from past regrets and future worries. Always remember, the Past is history, the future is a mystery, Today is a gift that is why it is called the present. One should try to make the most out of the present. One should develop a healthy eating and sleeping schedule. One should learn to be happy with what one is and what one has. One needs to focus on what one has not on what one lacks. This will help to develop positive thinking in life.

A man with a positive mental setup is the one who steers forward confidently on the path of life. If such a man commits a mistake or falters anywhere in life, he does not lose heart and does not become a cynic. Rather, he learns from his mistakes and takes his criticism in a positive and constructive way. But the problem is of choice, of how to acquire it through yoga, meditation classes, or through reading books. If we are able to get it, then success and happiness cannot elude us.
