Sunetra Gupta, a chemist, and physicist is a professor of theoretical epidemiology at the University of Oxford’s Department of Zoology. Professor Gupta’s main area of interest is the evolution of diversity in pathogens, with particular reference to the infectious agents responsible for malaria and influenza.
The spotlight fell squarely on Sunetra, when her portrait was displayed alongside leading women scientists of the world, like Marie Curie, among others, at the prestigious Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition from July 1, 2013, to October 31, 2013.
She is the recipient of the 2009 Royal Society Rosal: Franklin Award and the Scientific Medal from the Zoological Society of London. For those not aware of her literary achievements, Sunetra has also been conferred awards for her writing.
