Autobiography of A Dictionary
I am a proud old Chambers dictionary. When Karthik cleared class three, his father presented me to him. He said ‘It will assist you in, your studies’. Since I was in a decrepit condition, a binder was assigned the task of giving me a new lease of life.
Karthik gave me a space on his bookshelf. He found me very useful in finding out spellings, meanings, grammar, antonyms, proverbs, idioms, etc. One day he returned from school and tried to locate a word in me. It wasn’t there. In disgust, he sought his father’s help. ‘Yes, it’s so because every year, new words are added’ said his father. To solve this problem, he bought him a new edition of Chambers. I was happy to get a younger sister. The two of us now share information endlessly and together help Karthik. We both are lucky to have a superb master in Karthik.
