Damaging The Environment
Our lives move at a fast pace today; we want everything to be ready-made including clean water, food, and drinks. Even our curd/ fruits and vegetables are now pre-packaged and all this is nothing but plastic. Once the contents are consumed, we throw the packaging without any concern. However, it’s high time we gave it a thought. Plastic is killing our planet by choking the rivers, the soil, polluting the food chain, and increasing waste mass that is not biodegradable.
The discarded plastic bottles/containers end up in the ocean. Its bits and pieces are eaten by fishes and birds and enter our food chain. The burning of plastic in bonfires for disposal produces cancer-causing dioxins and other poisonous gases harmful to living beings. If we don’t alter our lifestyle soon, we could be living on a plastic heap in the coming decades. Adopting nature-friendly packaging in paper, dry leaves, etc is the need of the hour. Demand it and force the industry to change the trend; the consumer has the power.
