Journalist-Bringing Us News
Journalism has always been a very fascinating profession. A chance meeting with a journalist during a train journey only heightened my respect and admiration for them. He explained, “In this field, journalists spend their days and nights covering breaking developments, gathering facts, and conducting interviews. They write clear and concise articles for publication or broadcasting. Video shots are incorporated for media broadcasts. Good grammar, writing skills, curiosity, and creativity are key traits for them. “Some journalists are on a regular beat to cover the news. Others focus on specific categories like entertainment, politics, war, sports, finance, and fashion. They can be editors, reporters, news anchors, producers, or correspondents. They maintain professional secrecy and cultivate the sources.” All journalists, however, must work within the framework of law of defamation, contempt, and copyright.”
Our conversation made me wonder at the effort required to bring even a simple piece of news. One lasting thought he gave was that none should harm the spirit of all that is alive by debasing its art, least of all the written word.
