Participating In Politics — A Yes Or No
While studying about the constitution of India in class, my mind drifted towards the news we read about the ‘Executives’ who run our country….the politicians. None of us in class hold the ambition of being a politician, nurturing a very negative opinion of politics and its participants. But is it really so? Sister Gonzalez gave us the answer.
She explained that politics has existed since man started living in an organized society. Governance needs strong leadership and awareness. Today’s youth is educated, bold, well informed and aware of the happenings in the country and the world. To change the ways of governance, being a part of the system is the only way. India is a young country and needs people with integrity to work at the helm. The dynamism of the youth coupled with the experience of the older generation can put India on the path of progress. India has had some notable politicians like Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Manmohan Singh, etc who’ve been scholars in their fields and led a life of simplicity while working for the country. Draw inspiration from such leaders, she said.
