Recycling Gifts To The Needy
When my petite sister was born, I was jubilant. At her ‘naming’ ceremony, we invited about fifty guests. All the guests congratulated us and blessed the newborn with gifts. The party has done, I got curious and asked to open the gifts. Lo, behold! My sister had been gifted twenty teddy bears! My parents suggested that we donate the extra teddies to an orphanage as they would be wasteful to have at home. Donating them will give us a joy untold, besides giving the other children a chance to play with good toys. Not very happy, I still agreed and accompanied them to the orphanage. The small children looked very excited and happy. I then understood what my parents were trying to convey for those children couldn’t stop thanking us. Their matron had tears in her eyes as she hugged me for this gesture. I learnt that day that what is of less value to me may be extremely precious for someone else and thus to share or recycle from home can be a great goodwill gesture.
