Vladimir Putin

Vladimir Putin was named as the Acting Prime Minister of Russia in 1999. Today, he is the Prime Minister of the country, having served as President earlier! Putin inherited the shadow of a Great World Power and has worked to restore for the country, its place in global politics through his charisma as a great politician.

As Federal Security Chief until 1999, he was little known to the public. But ever since assuming the charge of the Acting Prime Minister he is remembered for growing revenues; getting Russia to rise from its knees and defending its own dignity. His economic reforms have been praised by the critics and the people, adequately reflected in the huge (80%) citizen’s approval that he commands, the highest for any leader in the world. He has called for a fair and democratic world order that would ensure security and prosperity not for a select few but for all. He is also a champion for the ‘go-green’ cause. Time magazine has named him as the 2007 “Person of the Year”.
