A Visit To The Mall
My father’s job kept him moving from one small town to another. Understandably, luxury to me was the inauguration of the first decent bakery! Come summer vacations and we went to visit our grandparents and cousins in New Delhi.
I had heard so much about malls from my cousins that I could not wait to see one myself. Soon, my wish came true. A visit to the mall was planned – window shopping mostly, followed by a treat at KFC and then a film in one of the multiplexes! I worked really hard to look cool! What I saw was far beyond my expectation. The parking was underground, a concept that I had only heard of. The elevators took us up to the ground floor. Thereafter, my mouth remained wide open. Brands that I had only seen inmagazines were lined up in a row. The main foyer was beautiful, bright, noisy and lively. Aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the air. My eyes feasted on everything especially the varieties of chocolate on display. The shops were endless- toys, shoes, garments and more garments! There were a large number of eateries. I then saw escalators for the first time. After the initial fear, I had a ball. Just as I thought that the fun was over, we came across the rides. I went berserk till my mother called me aside as each ride was rather expensive. We then went to KFC, ate sumptuous Zinger Burgers and French fries before moving in to the theatre.
I had the time of my life. I have been to the mall often, since then, but it has never been as exciting as the first time!
