Being a good sport
Brian is the star athlete of our school. Basketball, lawn tennis, field races, hurdles name it and he is a champion in them all. Sean joined our class in the middle of the school term. It was November, the time for our annual sports competitions. Since, only the fastest participant from each class was allowed to participate in the races, Brian’s name was entered into all the races. Sean went over to the Physical Education teacher and asked if he could participate. The teacher said he could if he could beat Brian.
The next day even before the race could begin everyone had begun to chant Brian! Brian! Sean nervously started fiddling with his hair. Brian walked over to Sean and extended his hand to him and said “Let the best boy win”. They took their marks and twice Sean jumped the gun and got disqualified. However, Brian requested the teacher to give him another chance. Sean finally ran to beat Brian but the real winner that day was Brian. He had won everyone’s heart by being such a good sport.
