I don’t want to grow old
I have no grandparents. There is a Home for the Aged close to where we live and Mom takes me with her to visit the old people there. The moment we enter; they greet us with bright good mornings. While some of them can barely walk, others are on wheelchairs, and yet some others are bedridden. I can’t imagine not being able to run about and play. I don’t want to grow old.
Most of these people have been thrown out of their homes by their families. Few others have chosen to live there themselves. They all have one thing in common though. They are hungry for love and affection. All of them have loved ones they care much about who don’t visit them. Mom says that some children don’t want to look after their parents when they grow old. I think that’s sad. I can’t imagine not looking after my Mom and Dad when they are old. If growing old means that you love your parents less, I don’t want to grow old.
