Influences That Have Shaped You
One of my most distinctive characteristics is the easiness with which I can adapt to any situation and it can be attributed to the fact that my Dad was in the army and every year he got posted to a new place. We were forever on the move. Change was one of the biggest constants in my life and every year I learnt to look forward to change.
Dad’s being in the army really shaped who I am today in more than one way. My respect for women, my sense of responsibility, my sense of discipline they are all things I learned living around people in the army. My Dads sense of responsibility and his sense of pride are intrinsic to me as well. My grandfather lived with us. All his life he had wanted to be a painter but never pursued it because he got swept up in family responsibilities. Finally, when he decided to give it a shot he fell sick and died. He died an unhappy man because he had not fulfilled his dream. It taught me one of my most important lessons. Time is like sand; it slips through your fingers without your knowing it. I never leave for tomorrow what I can finish today.
I know my career lies in marketing. It is like my entire life I have been preparing for a life on the go. Selling comes naturally to me. I welcome the idea of field work. I love targets and achieving them. It is true that the choices you make in life are a result of the things that have influenced your life.
