International Schools
The face of education has changed. Today, even kindergarten schools are being marketed. All of a sudden there seems to be a surge of international schools in India and parents are bending themselves backwards to make sure they can give their children the best that is available; the same parents that studied at Indian schools and Indian Universities.
An International school is a school that promotes international education, either by following a national curriculum different from that of the country the school is located in or by following an international curriculum such as the International Baccalaureate. The former cater to students who are not nationals of the host country, such as children of the staff of international embassies, missions, etc. The International Baccalaureate aims to build a more peaceful world by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through understanding and respect for each other’s culture and tradition. The International Baccalaureate develops challenging programmes for international education and assessment. The children are encouraged to think that they are a part of the universe and that they must attempt to understand other people, and other perspectives.
It is a noble objective and it would not hurt for the other schools to adopt it too. After all, we are all the same even if we look different and speak differently. Children who learn to respect others will only go forth to become adults who are well balanced and make the world a better place to live in.
