Leisure Time According To Me
Leisure may be called as the spare time that is free from labour and hard work of life. Leisure never means laziness or idleness. It should be seen in a broader viewpoint, as a satisfying part of life. Thus, for me leisure is a kind of living space or a welcome and necessary break in the long hours of work. People with more wealth enjoy more leisure hours. They have more spare hours to release their exhaustion. However, all of us can enjoy hours of rest, relaxation, joy, change from routine and entertainment. Thus, leisure is a kind of assurance against dullness, fatigue and tensions of life. After hours of work and struggle, we need some rest, recreation, joy, break, freshness or holidays.
Leisure time helps me in keeping my body, mind and health refreshed. Some time devoted to my hobbies, reinforces me to achieve better. During my leisure hours, I spent a lot of spare time in simple and innocent joys of life and intellectual and artistic activities.
Leisure is like a double-edged sword, which can be either used well or misused. A person can be best judged by the way he or she uses the leisure hours. However, it never means wasting away the precious time in drinking, gambling or lazy gossiping. I view leisure as an excellent opportunity for healthy enjoyment, intellectual, spiritual, cultural and creative searches. I also pass my time playing with my friends, listening to stories from grandmother or simply by observing nature and birds.
The right use of leisure hours can help me in shaping and developing my personality in the desired way. Leisure provides me a rare opportunity to satisfy my inner demands. During leisure, I satisfy my artistic, cultural, intellectual and divine desires. I also devote my spare hours in reading, writing stories, playing a guitar or in the search of some meaningful activity. Once we have made a sensible selection, we can make our leisure really interesting, meaningful and valuable.
Different people spend leisure differently. Some may occupy themselves in gardening, photography, reading or playing outdoor or indoor games. Others may busy themselves in playing with children or in enjoying music. However, in modern times, viewing television is becoming more and more popular. In India, people like to spend their leisure time before their television sets, viewing films, popular serials or other programmes.
Leisure in itself is neither good nor bad. Its use makes it good or bad. Therefore, according to me, leisure with purpose and meaningfulness should be our aim. We must be alert and watchful against the abuse of leisure.
