My Opinion to Promote National Integration In India
For me nationality is a feeling of pride. Each citizen should feel that national identity is greater than narrow identities like religion, caste, language, culture, tradition, etc. Using national symbols like national flag creates a feeling of patriotism among people. We as children should be aware of the curious history of India and sacrifices of countless patriots. Singing national anthem and saluting the national flag arouses a feeling of patriotism. National spirit builds unity because occasion such as wining competitions and medals at international level is a matter of pride for all the citizens of the country.
Good Government and its transparent functioning create confidence among people towards the system of the country. In a democratic form of power, Government is answerable to people for its activities. Every person has a right to know the functioning of the Government.
Corruption and black money are a serious threat to our nation. Government has to face agitation by people demanding control over corruption. Strict laws against corrupt practices must be enforced. People involved in corruption must be severely punished. By doing this people will realise the seriousness of the Government to control corruption and will also understand the importance of the unity of nation.
Print media like newspapers, journals and magazines can encourage the process of national unity and integration. If slogans like `Mera Bharat Mahan’ and ‘I am proud to be an Indian’ are published they can spread awareness. Articles and advertisements on national integration can be very useful to boost the feeling of unity and harmony. Even electronic media like television and radio are very useful to create a feeling of national unity.
Education helps in creating awareness about the importance of national integration. Certain set of courses should be used. Co-curricular activities should be introduced for the overall growth and progress of the child. Various activities like Scout and Guides, cultural activities, educational tours, etc. should be given more importance. This helps in understanding the need of national integration.
A religious harmony must be created among people of India as there are many religions living together. At times, they feel that they are enemies of each other. Efforts should be made to develop a batter understanding among the youth belonging to different views, faiths and life styles. They should be made aware about regional culture, religious faith and practice of others.
The above measures will strengthen the secular and national sentiment. We must encourage each other to participate in national festivals like Independence Day and Republic Day. Moreover, anniversaries of great leaders should also be celebrated.
