Pleasures Of Cycling
The charm that cycling holds is beyond comparison. When a child is given a tricycle, his excitement is unmatched and this thrill of cycling remains even when he moves on to a bicycle with supporters and then graduates on to an adult bicycle. Cycling knows no age barriers or gender barriers. It is pure, unadulterated fun.
For the budding cool dudes who feel the need for-speed or for the young lasses, who peddle leisurely taking in the beauty of the countryside and perhaps, stop to put flowers in their baskets, for the figure conscious or for those little errands, cycling is the perfect answer! Cycling to school or racing in the evening, cycling leaving both your hands and trying stunts and falling- are all pleasures that one does not tire off. When I got my first BSA SLR on my thirteenth birthday, I was ecstatic. Till then, I used my brothers old cycle that had a bar in the centre. I was waiting for an exclusive girl bike. It was a shiny, pale red and I was proud of it. I even tried taking sharp turns to show off but wobbled miserably which sadly, was noticed by my brother who never seems to forget the episode. However, nothing stopped me from trying. I always looked for an excuse to rush out and pick up my cycle.
Cycles today have advanced. It meets different demands. As a sport itself, it gets a lot of attention and with the likes of greats like Lance Armstrong and his record breaking seven consecutive wins at the Tour de France, it is here to stay and inspire generations to come.
