Rebirth: Doubt Or Belief
Many years ago on BBC, if I am not wrong, I saw a report on a little boy from Sri Lanka who remembered his past life and recognised his wife. I had found it hilarious when the wife carried him and perched him on a table as he recounted correctly the occurrences that were known to them. My mouth remained wide open in astonishment.
I have been fascinated by the concept of rebirth as it really makes sense. We are born to the soil and we perish in it to be born again. The whole concept of “Atma” (the soul) and “Parmatma” (the supreme soul or God) is so reasonable. The idea of the same soul in everything which eventually merges with the Supreme, making it a whole is not a make belief concept. There is truth in it. We cannot prove it but we can feel that force of a power over us. To merge with that power, we have to be born again and again till our souls are as pure as the power itself and then we combine with it.
After the death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, there was a picture of a 3000-year-old statue of an Egyptian woman sighted in a Chicago Museum with striking resemblance to him, more so as the nose of the statue was a bit disfigured. It is believed in theory that he was reborn and is predicted to be born again as a woman.
