The beach clean up
Juhu beach is a Favourite picnic spot for those living in the western parts of Mumbai. Its gentle slope, lapping waters and lovely sand remain its star attractions.
Picnickers litter the beach with food and plastic wrappers. During the 10-day long Ganesha festival people throng the beach in thousands to immerse idols made of plaster of Paris. The beach front is left littered with thousands of crackers, garlands, coconuts.
The Municipality cleans up Juhu beach every night. Thousands of plastics, papers are disposed properly to ensure that the people who come for their morning jog are greeted by the sight of a clean beach. Post festival the clean up lasts for almost three days since there is so much litter.
If each of us would take the initiative not to litter the beach it would go a long way in helping the authorities maintain a cleaner water front.
