The concrete jungle
When we first came to live in Kandivili there were very few buildings. Our building was set against the backdrop of a forest and we loved waking up each morning to see the glorious green. In six years time, however, buildings have sprung all over the place like mushrooms. We can no longer see the mountains because they have been cut down to make way for more buildings. Everywhere we look there are only tau skyscrapers to be seen.
At every junction there seems to be a new mall coming up or a big shopping complex. There are no trees left. They have all been chopped of Everywhere you look there is just concrete, cement and asphalt.
We long to see the greenery. We long to see the mountains but the scenery never changes, its only concrete everywhere. The climate has changed on account of all the concrete. It’s much hotter than it used to be and only getting worse. We have to pay the price for creating this concrete jungle.
