The ice cream eating competition
Every year, in summer, our community gets together to participate in the ice cream eating competition. There are different age categories so everybody gets to participate.
Lola, my friend, is the champion in my age group and always wins. This year, I thought I would try to beatLola. The gunshot triggered the competition off and everyone started gobbling down scoops of ice cream. At first it felt good. I had strawberry, then Butterscotch, followed by chocolate. Lola was already downing her sixth scoop. To my right Sandy was still licking his first scoop. He didn’t want to win; he was there to just enjoy ice cream. There were still five minutes and although I was already full I had another scoop. As soon as I had the first spoon, I felt the ice cream rise in my throat. I knew in that instant that Lola had won.
I walked over and like a good sport congratulated her and swore to do it Sandy’s way next time; only Sandy enjoyed the ice cream that day.
