When Did The People Start A Hair Cut?
A development of the horn layer of the skin is actually the hair. Cutting hair does not hurt us, as is the case with nails. We are not hurt because these horn cells contain no nerves. Since the beginning people have been doing so many things with their hair, because it is so easy to cut the hair in any fashion for the men or women, they like. There is no evidence as to who first cut or arranged the hair in a special way. The women, have had combs from the very early times. Men and women have curled their hair since ancient times
The custom of long hair for women and short hair for men is modern. During the Middle Ages, men wore long hair, curled it and even used to tie ribbons. In the absence of long hair, they bought from country people and wore false hair.
Henry VII of England began the style of short hair for men. He ordered all men to have short hair, he allowed them to grow long beards and curl the moustaches. Long hair for men reappeared when James I was the king. The wigs also did not lag behind.
By about the Middle of seventeenth century there were two camps in England when it came to hair: those believing in short hair and long beards for men, and those who advocated short beard and long hair. For next one hundred years, the custom has changed back and forth. Finally, around 1800, the custom of short hair for men really established.
Women have always rendered to wear long hair. The manner of lobbing the hair was a fad at the court of Louis XIV. Today women of course, wear their hair short, because these are fashionable, simpler than having to bother with pins and combs and elaborate coifs.
Barber and hair cutting saloons are a very recent development. In England, barbers were first incorporated in a craft in the year 1461, in France they were during the reign of Louis XIV.
