Autobiography of Firefighter
Firefighters put out unwanted fires. They stay on duty in the fire station until someone rings the emergency services and asks for the fire service. Then the firefighters get out of their shiny red fire engines.
It has all the firefighting equipment. They switch on the alarm bell and set out the fire as quickly as possible. The hose is rolled up into a coil on the fire engine. When firefighters get to the fire they attach the hose to a fire hydrant in the street. Then they turn the water supply on. They point their hoses at the flames. There is a ladder on the fire engine. Firefighters climb up it to reach the flames in the upper part of the building. They also use it to rescue people from burning buildings. They carry them down the ladder to safety. Firefighters risk their lives for others. They are very strong and brave people. We should thank them for the dangerous work they do.
