Types of Plays
There are different types of plays and the script for each would depend on the type.
Street play: Street plays are short-length plays, typically not lasting more than 15 — 30 minutes. But they still have a complete story with a beginning, middle and end. These plays usually reflect the socially prevalent issues.
One act plays: One-act play, as the name suggests has only one act. That is, it focuses on one problem or one main action. These plays can run anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour or more. One-act plays are low on technical demands and have only one set. These are good types of school plays.
Full-length plays: These plays take up an entire evening and run to 80 minutes or more. They place a heavy demand on the setting and technical requirements.
Musicals: A person writing for musicals faces the challenge of producing a script that runs up to 3 hours, although the most acceptable time is about half that. The story is a musical need to be conveyed through the medium of a song, leaving little space for the uses of words.
