The first Air CRASH on a scheduled passenger flight occurred at Golders Green, a suburb of north London, shortly after noon on Tuesday, 14 December 1920. The airliner, belonging to Handley Page Continental Air Services, had just left Cricklewood Aerodrome for Paris, carrying a two-man crew and six passengers. It crashed into the back of a newly built house, 6 Basinghill, The Ridgeway, and fell in flames into the garden. Four of the passengers managed to jump clear just before the aircraft hit the ground, two of them surviving unhurt, and the other two being only slightly injured. The other occupants of the plane were all killed.
The first reported COLLISION BETWEEN AIRLINES took place on 7 April 1922, when a Farman Goliah operated by the French airline Grands Express flew into the path of a Daimler Airways DH 19 over Poix in northern France.
