10 Lines on “A Rainy Day”

1. Yesterday we were supposed to go on a picnic if the weather was fine. When we got up in the morning it was raining only slightly.
2. We thought that it might clear up and that we would still be able to go on the picnic.
3. While we were having breakfast the rain got heavier and heavier. It was soon pouring.
4. My sister Jane and I have to take our dog, Patch, for a walk in the mornings.
5. We did not really want to go out in the rain but we put on our anoraks and wellingtons and set off.
6. There were puddles everywhere and Patch jumped in all of them. He loves water! He loves to walk along the path beside the river.
7. We walked down there and saw that the level of the river was much higher than usual. In some places it was overflowing its banks.
8. Suddenly, Patch ran forward to the river. He jumped in and tried to swim, but the water was too deep. We thought he was drowning.
9. Fortunately a man on the river bank waded through the water and got Patch. We were very grateful to the man.
10. We were also very pleased that Patch was safe. In future we are going to keep him away from the river when it is raining heavily.
