Getting pushed out of a bus

It had been raining heavily that day and the buses were running late. Finally, when the bus arrived people tried to jump the queue. I knew if I stood in the queue, the bus would leave before my turn. So / jumped the queue like the others and pushed myself past an old gentleman to put my foot into the bus. Just as I put one leg on the bus, I felt the bus give a lurch and start. I tried to balance myself. Someone was screaming for me to get off the bus. I tried in vain to get my other leg onto the bus but the force of the people standing in the doorway was too much. The pressure pushed me out of the bus. I would have hurt myself very badly had it not been for the old gentleman who tried to break my fall.

That day I learned a lesson. I would never jump a queue and never try to get in to a crowded bus.
