Essay on “My Birthday Gift”
It was my ninth birthday yesterday. There was a pile of cards and parcels on the breakfast table. They were mostly from members of my family. I knew that: my friends would all bring their cards and presents in person to my birthday party in the afternoon. Both my paternal and maternal grandparents had sent book tokens. That’s good. I love reading. My Auntie Mabel had sent me my favourite computer game. I cannot wait to play it! There was only a card from Mum and Dad. I was very disappointed. Mum had explained that Dad had to leave for work very early. She said they both wanted to give me their present together. When Dad got home they gave me their present. It was a skateboard. They had also given me safety helmet and kneepads. I was as pleased as punch! I had wanted a skateboard for a long time but my parents had always said that skateboarding was too dangerous. They had changed their mind because the town council had opened a skateboard park. My parents thought that would make the sport safe. I simply cannot believe it! I am going to go down to the skateboard park right away.
