The Doctor
The human life on the Earth is full of pleasures, sorrows, difficulties, strength, weakness, fitness and illness. However, we are fortunate that there are noble people who dedicate their lives to cure the miseries of others. Among them, the profession of doctors is perhaps most respected for the service they provide to society. The doctor is a person who is trained in medical science. His job is to treat people who are ill, sick or injured. Many young and ambitious people are fascinated to the profession of medicine. A kind of charm and attraction is linked with such a profession.
There is a general impression existing among common people that the life of a doctor is a bed of roses. People feel that a doctor has a habit of keeping his patients waiting for hours outside his consulting room, calls them in when their turn comes, examines them, gives a name to their disease, writes up terrible to read long prescription and finally charges a heavy fee for consultation. Such foolish people believe that the fees collected from patients during their treatment helps him to live a luxurious life, move in a long air-conditioned car and have many helpers for his care.
A few wise people believe that the life of a doctor is a bed of thorns. A doctor who is completely dedicated to his profession has no fixed and precise hours of work and relaxation. Such doctors may have to rush to visit a sick at any odd hours and in any kind of weather. He never gets irritated and does his best for the sick. Success in curing patients, improving their health and saving their lives is an appropriate reward for hard work and intelligence put in by the doctor.
The doctor works to prevent spread of the epidemics. Every now and then dangerous disease clutches the humanity. Sometimes it may take years of careful work and research to find the cure and ultimately the doctor helps in spreading the cure. Besides being an expert medical professional, a good doctor is also a kind-hearted person. He always speaks politely so that the patients feel comfortable. Although he can earn a lot of money, his primary concern is his patient’s health and life. A good doctor never makes difference between his rich and poor patients. He treats all his patients equally. His only interest is to cure the patient from the disease. People consider such doctors as an angle of humanity.
A doctor’s profession is honourable and noble. He is just like a God for the patients. We should be thankful to the doctor and always respect him.
