Why, There Are Three Different Kinds Of Hair?
As a matter of inheritance, we have the kind of hair. The question remains: why are there so many different types of hair, that might be inherited? Among human beings, the general structure does not vary, very much. Its general consistency; its colour, its form, and as to how it looks-under a microscope -vary much. These differences occur in patterns; the hair is one of the best method to determine the race of a person. In other words, the hair we have inherited bears the stamp of our race.
There are three classifications of hair, the way these are constructed. The first is short and crisp. We also call this kind “wooly”.
It is elliptical, in cross section or we can say it is ‘kidney-shaped’. The colour is always jet black and it is the hair of all the black races, but there are two exceptions.
The second type of hair is straight, long and coarse, their cross section is circular. The colour is black without any exception. This is the Chinese hair, also of Mongols and the Indians of the Americas.
There is third type of also. This kind is wavy and curly or silky and smooth. The section across the hair is oval in shape. This is the European hair. Its is generally fair with black, brown, red or toast varieties.
The fourth type is known as ‘frizzy’; This is the hair of Australian natives. The curly hair is mainly flat in structure. The rounder the hair, the stiffer it is. As regards colour, there are some kinds which have a range of colours. There are others which do not have. The wavy variety vary most in colour. This is the reason why, among Europeans we find the deepest black hair side by side with flaxen hair. The fair hair is more common in northern Europe, and much rarer in the south. Among the races with straight hair, fair hair colour is very rare. There are races with frizzy hair. Their colour is red. They often have wavy hair. But the red colour is related to an individual only – there are no races with red hair.
