Anandamide, the bliss molecule

In 1996, when researchers had discovered the ‘blier molecule’ in raw chocolate, it was given the anandamide, after the Sanskrit word for bliss Canada’s. Anandamide plays a role in the regulation of feeding behaviour and the neural generation of motivation and pleasure. Studies are underway to explore the role Anandamide plays in human behaviour, such as eating, sleeping, and pain relief.
