Rig Vedic drink madhumadya back in India

Made from Madhu (honey), herbs, water, vegetable seasoning, madhumadya (honey-alcohol) the world’s oldest fermented drink. The recipe for this is found in the Rig Veda. Today, the patent for this drink belongs to a Lithuanian company. Historical records state that Queen Elizabeth II granted the Stakliskes factory of Lietuviskas Midus the patent and it became the sole producer of this type of mead in modern times.

Now made from honey, hops, lime flowers, juniper berries and vitamin additives, the drink returns to India, courtesy the Indian Baltic Chamber of Commerce.
