Role of History in Man’s Life

History does not consist of battles and a few persons who become kings and generals. It should tell us about the people of a country; how they lived, what they did. It should inform us of their reactions in their joys and sorrows and how they overcome their difficulties. That is how history can be a teacher. A study of the past can enable us to avoid the mistakes others committed. People will then find out whether we are getting better or worse, whether we have progressed or not. We imagine that we are so important that the world will stop functioning after us. But what are we in the long cavalcade of human history? A study of history thus enables us not to worry about small and trivial things of life and we can then become better human beings.
