He commenced with Noah’s ark and traced the progress of art through the centuries. When he was expatiating on the construction of the Spanish Armada, Sir Grey accidentally awoke the slumbering Prime Minister.

“In which era is the honourable gentleman now, Sir Grey?” the prime minister asked.
