Eating with chopsticks
My pen friend Chang Ming came to visit us this summer. Chang is of Chinese descent. He gifted us four pairs of ornamental Chinese chopsticks and four pairs of ordinary ones. We couldn’t wait to use them.
Mom made noodles with chicken so we could inaugurate the chopsticks. Like Chang instructed we held both sticks while keeping one stationary and the other free to move.
We tried catching the noodles between the sticks but in vain. We dropped the sticks many times. Finally, I managed to catch a piece of chicken between my two chopsticks. I opened my mouth eagerly but before I could put the piece of chicken in my mouth, it slipped out from between my chopsticks and landed square on grandpa’s bald head. We gave up on the chopsticks since the food was getting cold and proceeded to dig in to the noodles with forks.
