Hit by the Tsunami
The Tsunami is a series of huge waves that happen following an undersea earthquake or volcano eruption. They travel in all directions from the area of disturbance as fast as 450 miles per hours. When these big waves smash the seashore they can be as high as 100 feet.
In 2004 we were holidaying at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in our hotel sleeping, when Mom woke me up. She just bundled me up in her arms and waded through knee deep water. There was lots of water everywhere and I looked over her shoulder to see water crashing against the hotel windows. She put me on top of the cupboard and stood on a table. The water continued to rise but after four hrs. it began to abate.
When we got out of the hotel the scene that greeted us was one of horror. There was vast destruction. Bodies lay strewn everywhere. Most buildings had collapsed. I can’t erase that scene from my eyes to this date.
