How I Prepared Myself For Fright To The Moon
One day while coming from the school, I bought a few illustrated magazines and books giving descriptions and information on various Indian, American and Russian cosmonauts. After reaching home, soon I started turning the pages. It was so engrossing and fascinating that the description of what they did and saw let me off the sleep.
I had been selected to land on moon. It was really a matter of great joy. My friends were congratulating me on this opportunity. The rocket and the spacecraft in which I was to travel had all the facilities. Besides electro-magnetic controls, temperature control and pressurized cabin, it was fitted with the devices to come back to Earth. There was enough provision for a period of fifteen days. There was also a system of communicating messages to Earth.
Early in the morning after the medical check-up, I wore on my space suit. Soon I was launched into space. With a blast, the rocket rose into space. The higher I went the greater was the speed of the craft. Now I felt weightless. It appeared that if not fixed to my seat I would float. My spacecraft had moved out of the gravitational pull of the Earth. I was only a few thousand kilometres away from the moon. I moved my eyes towards the window. All! What a grand sight it was. On one side was the stunning sun light and on the other was the dark glittery night.
The moon was now looking much bigger as I was approaching towards it. The whole region was getting yellow and whitish. The moon appeared to be hard and rocky like the Earth. I was now moving round the moon. Moreover, with an excitement in my heart I relayed message to the Earth. I told how I was feeling and how the moon appeared. My joy knew no bounds because I was flying right over the moon.
I was looking out for an appropriate landing ground. I did not know when I landed. I was unaware of how I landed. May be it was a crash landing because even though I had kept my eyes closed, I seemed to hear the sound of a crash.
Slowly, I picked up my confidence to open the eyes when the angry words of my mother fell into my ears. I was lying on my bed and she was angry that in my sleep I had crashed the flower vas placed on the table nearby.
I could not make up by mind how my mother had reached the moon. After a few minutes, I was fully awake and found myself in bed. The dream had been over. The sweet memories of that are still fresh.
