Municipality workers go on strike

It’s amazing how full the garbage bin gets every day. the sweeper comes and collects the garbage from each of our homes and puts it in the common garbage box outside our building. At nine every morning the municipality truck comes to empty the garbage boxes.

Last week, the Municipality workers went on strike. The second day of the strike, the garbage box outside our building was spilling over. That night we couldn’t sleep because of the barking of the dogs that had come to rummage through the garbage. In the morning the stench from the garbage was so overpowering we had to hold napkins against our noses. Dead leaves littered the roads and the gutters were brimming with waste.

That day we realized the big role the municipality workers play in keeping our environment clean.
