The Person I Admire
I admire our freedom fighters who have laid their lives for us.
I admire the great scientists who have eased our lives for us.
I admire the painters, the tailors, the acrobats and all those who work for us.
But the one I admire most of all is the one who gives birth to us.
My mother is a remarkable lady, beautiful and poised. When I look at her I wonder how a person can look so serene and content despite the endless trial and tribulations throughout her life. She defined selflessness. She epitomizes love. She is tireless cheerleader who eggs me on regardless. She beat my thankless speeches and all our tirades but never have I felt that she loves us any less. She does not truly a blind eye to my faults instead she magnifies it and shows it to me. Relentlessly then she attempts to change it and does not stop till she is triumphant. She is my best friend and has changed with the times. She is the link between the ideals of the past and the present. She knows I cannot live by the guidelines her mother laid out for her and yet, she will not let me forget my values. My life is so comfortable because she does not forget my need. She does not say “later” when something is important to me. At this point, I feel rather guilty because my Dad is great too. I love and respect all that he stands for but then I know he idolizes his mother as well!
“God couldn’t be everywhere so he made mothers” I do not know who said that, but whoever it was loved his mother just as much as I do mine. We are blessed to have mothers so let us in turn do then proud.
