Do You Know, As To, Where Did The Ice Cream Originate?

The United States consumes normally more than 2200,000,000 litres of ice cream each year. It appears, as if, it originated here. In fact, the ice cream was first created in Orient. Marco Polo, the great Venetian explorer noticed people eating it there. He brought back the idea to Italy. The idea was further carried to France. With the nobility, the idea became very popular and an endeavour was made to keep the recipes for ice cream a secret from the common people. But, soon people learnt how delicious the new food was and ice cream became popular among masses. It spread all over the world, including the United States.

The wholesale factory, first of its kind for the manufacture, Maryland, in the year 1851. The development of refrigeration coupled the development of ice cream became a business after 1900.

The cream is base of all ice creams. Of-course milk, milk solids, sugar and sometimes eggs also constitute as ingredients. Vanilla, Chocolate, Berries, fruit ingredients, and nuts are added as flavours. The usual proportion of ingredients in ice cream: is 80 to 85 per cent, cream and milk products, 15 per cent sugar, one-half to four and one-half per cent flavouring, and three tenths of one per cent stabilizer.

The small amount of stabilizer is used in order to retain the smoothness of the ice cream by preventing the formation of coarse ice crystals. Pure food gelatin is usually used for this purpose.

In one-third of a litre of ice cream there are calcium, protein, and the ‘B’ vitamins as are in one-half cup of whole milk, and as much vitamin ‘A’ and calories as in one cup of milk.
