Why does alcohol make people drunk?

Alcohol stimulates the brain initially but after a while it has a depressing effect and hinders our ability to think, observe and be attentive. We also lose the power to control our moods. Alcohol also paralyzes our inhibitory fibres, which makes us speak and act in abnormal ways which constitute drunken behaviour.
