Doing errands
I like doing errands for people. My mom says that it’s a nice way to help others and that I should not expect anything in return.
Aunty Bicky has asthma and has difficulty breathing. She keeps sending me to the pharmacy store below our building. The pharmacist Mr. Shabbir first checks with Aunty Bicky before handing over the medicines to me. Every time I run an errand for Aunty Bicky she pats my head and says the sweetest “God bless you my child, may you grow tall and strong and one day become a wonderful man.”
Sarojini Aunty who lives in the apartment above mine has trouble walking. Sometimes she requests me to mail her letters for her. I do it on the way to school and afterwards she always gives me a bar of chocolate.
I love doing errands. It makes me feel like an adult and helping others makes me feel good about myself.
