As You Give, So You Receive

The poor beggar lived in abysmal poverty. He wore ragged clothes and often went hungry. Some generous souls would give him grains of rice or copper coins, but nothing more.

One day, he learnt that the King himself was coming that way in his chariot. He positioned himself on the road waiting for the King.

When the King came, the beggar requested for alms. Instead of giving him anything, the King extended his hands and asked the beggar to give him something instead. Extremely disappointed at the petty gesture of the King, the beggar grudgingly counted only three grains of rice from his bowl and placed them angrily in the King’s hands.

The King, in turn, threw something in his bowl as his gift.
