Mullah Nasruddin

My friend Dan gifted me the book, “The adventures of mullah Nasruddin” last month. From the first page to the last page the book was a series of laughs. Mullah Nasruddin is a Persian Sufi folk character.

Mullah Nasruddin’s jokes are not just funny they are witty as well. They are simple and easy to understand and easier still to retell.

Mullah Nasruddin entered his favorite teahouse and said, ‘The moon is more useful than the sun’. An old man asked him ‘Why?’ and Mullah replied ‘We need the light more during the night than during the day’.

One-day Mullah opened a booth with a sign that said: Two questions on any subject answered for only hundred silver coins. A man who had two very urgent questions handed over his money, saying: A hundred silver coins is expensive for two questions, isn’t it? Yes, said Mullah, and the next question, please?

I like Mullah’s stories because they are easy to remember and have great punch lines.
