Reading… at leisure

When I was a baby and couldn’t read Mom would get me picture story books. Mom says that I used to refuse to eat my breakfast cereal without my picture book.

During school days, Dad lets us read only on weekends but during the vacations Dad encourages us to read as much as we can. When I open a book, it feels almost like opening a door that leads down a secret passageway into a secret world.

My favourite books are the ‘Faraway Tree’ series. One afternoon, I dozed off reading “Up the Faraway Tree” and I began dreaming that Jo, Bessie and Fannie had invited me to see their tree. I met Moon face, and Silky the fairy. Suddenly, I felt water on my face; I looked up thinking it would be Dame Wash alot throwing her dirty water down the tree but was surprised to see that it was actually my sister trying to wake me up from my dream.
